COPACS Logo

The COPACS logo was designed and painted by W̱SÁNEĆ artist Virgil Sampson on an elk hide drum.

Mr. Sampson designed the design to capture the spirit and essence of parents working together to support children and their learning. The design is four human figures in different colours representing the human family (black, red, white and yellow). The design of the human figures represents the flow of energy. Between the human figures are symbols that represent sport, literature, music, and cleansing (e.g. soccer ball, book, musical note, and cedar branch). 

Drums are meant to be used.

 

The COPACS drum is housed at the ŚEŚIŚEJ Child Care Centre, where it is played and enjoyed by the youngest children within our community, so that they can grow up hearing the powerful sounds of the drum.
